Remember The Yunasi Band who sang ndi ndi ndi (Usilewe)?????

YUNASI BAND

Those of you who have no idea who I am taking about the name is Yunasi Band. The Afro-fusion boy band started their career in music almost a decade ago. The band combined different African styles of music such as Benga, Isukuti and Sengato to come up with their own unique style they call Sesube.
The Kenyan boy band has its number of accolades being one of those bands that are largely popular in the international scene than they are locally. In 2007, the Yunasi band won the BBC ‘Next Big Thing’ competition, beating over 2000 acts from 88 countries; quite a milestone for the Kenyan band. Just the year before in 2006, Yunasi band were the winners at the US International Songwriting Contest for the song Ji Opogore (The Difference of People). Back here in Kenya the Yunasi band had their trophy from the 2004 Kisima Awards for the best afro-fusion band.

Unfortunately, the band later split with each of the seven members going after their solo careers but after an absence of over four years from the music scene, the Yunasi band is back with their latest song Sesube which features Rabbit. This is one band promising band you should watch!

Nazizi Makes A come back!!

Nazizi is perhaps the only Kenyan female artiste who dared to be different and found her niche in the music industry.  Lately, the former Necessary Noize member has been the topic of gutter press about her divorce and private life. Well as you already know, 254 Digital is not about that mediocrity! We are here to tell you about her return to the music industry. That’s right, Nazizi is back with a banging new jam called ‘254’.
We spoke to the producer of the song, Mavazi Hand Print’s Ibrahim Alex who told us that the song is all about her celebration of Nairobi which is where she grew up and an appreciation to her fans. He added that this is the first single from the EP titled Evo-Illusion which they have been working on.

Demarco Claims East African DanceHall Artists Have No Fame In Jamaica!!!

Dermaco was in Uganda last week to perform and boy did he unleash some steam. The Jamaican artist is among the many reggae singers known in East Africa. Although his songs have been our club anthems he seems to feel too sure our artists are not doing much. Maybe he did this to help our artists grow, but at the same time it really sounded harsh.
Dermaco said…“When I am here, all I seem to hear is Chameleone… All the (dance-hall) songs you claim to be big are not known in Jamaica and neither the artistes. Local artistes should go to Jamaica and promote their act if they expect to get results,” . So our over hyped dance-hall artists are strangers in Jamaica as he put it.
As we keep hyping this Jamaican songs and forget about our local songs it shows how in-supportive we are. The Jamaican artist even made it worse when he went ahead to say that his collabo with Peter Miles “Blessings” is not even known by anyone from Jamaica. Well, there you have it.

here is Adelle Onyango away from radio waves

Adelle Onyango, the bubbly Radio Presenter, Poet, MC and now Singer released her new single ‘FADED’ this morning. I must admit that it’s a really great song and given that it’s her first one, we got to give her props for nailing it!
I love how catchy the chorus is and the song gets you in a party mode. This will definitely be a club banger sooner than later.

Infact, she went on to invite us to join in her revelry and merry making but I have decided to sit this one out! I asked whether we are seeing her make the switch to being a bad girl and as they say, "When a good girl turns bad, there is no turning her back!". Needless to say, I didn't receive an answer.
But to be honest, this is a very good look for her. Gone are the days when poetry and spoken word pieces were all she was known for, she is now Adelle version 2.0!
